Another Successful Semester Concluded at KIBERLAB

KIBERLAB, operated in cooperation between OTP Bank and the Faculty of Informatics at ELTE, has concluded another successful semester. In the cybersecurity research lab, students can work on current information security topics that support their professional development while also connecting to real cybersecurity challenges faced in the banking sector.

During the semester, 21 students worked on 9 different topics. Participants explored research questions related to real-world problems, while OTP experts supported them with mentoring, professional feedback and practical experience.

At the end of the semester, the students presented their results in a series of closing presentations. The end-of-semester event took place on two occasions, on May 27 and June 4. During the presentations, participants introduced their semester-long work, research directions and achieved results in the OTP Bank office.

This year, a dedicated presentation skills session also supported the students’ preparation for the closing event. The aim of the program was to help students not only develop their professional knowledge, but also practice how to present complex cybersecurity topics in a clear, structured and confident way.

The students’ work was also recognised with certificates at the end of the semester. These certificates acknowledge their successful semester performance and also show that the participants gained professional experience that may be valuable later in their careers.

The success of the joint work is well demonstrated by the fact that 8 students will continue their work at OTP during the summer as part of their professional internship. This also shows that KIBERLAB creates a professional environment in which university research, practical experience and longer-term cooperation can naturally connect.

The semester once again demonstrated that KIBERLAB is an important meeting point for university talent, educators and banking experts. The program continues to successfully build knowledge sharing between the university and the bank, while contributing to the development of future cybersecurity professionals through practical, real-world problems.
