KIBERLAB Researchers Win Scholarships

8/15/2024

Two KIBERLAB researchers, Bence Korpa and Gergely Zsolt Kovács, successfully applied for and won scholarships through the ELTE University Research Scholarship Programme’s Cooperative Doctoral Programme (EKÖP-KDP), in the fields of transaction fraud defence and federated learning.

Through the programme, the students will work at OTP Bank’s Cybersecurity Division alongside their doctoral studies for the duration of their doctoral research, thereby facilitating the practical application of their academic findings. More information about the scholarship can be found on the website.

Defence against fraud affecting payment transactions is of paramount importance to the Bank due to the continuous rise in fraud incidents. The aim of the research is to develop an artificial intelligence-based solution capable of stopping fraud quickly and effectively. Federated learning has many valuable business applications; the essence of the method is that data analysis can be performed using a locally deployed artificial intelligence algorithm rather than by aggregating data in a central location.

We extend our congratulations to them on this outstanding achievement!
