KIBERLAB's Second Semester Concluded

6/21/2024

The second semester of the KIBERLAB cybersecurity research lab concluded successfully, with 17 university students carrying out research throughout the period. In the second, spring semester, 17 students joined the lab: five from the undergraduate computer science programme, ten from the master’s programme, and two conducting research alongside their doctoral studies. In addition, four students received scholarships, and several will complete their mandatory internships within the KIBERLAB framework during the summer. Due to the rapid growth in student numbers and interest in the lab, a mentoring system was also launched, through which 10 professional mentors and 13 business mentors from various departments of our bank supported the students.

The students delivered presentations and progress reports on their work and the results achieved on 29 and 30 May at the lab, in the presence of the lab’s Standing Committee and the Dean of the Faculty of Informatics. The research created value across numerous fields, including anti-phishing defence and the security examination of artificial intelligence applications. Beyond the research work itself, OTP Bank organised several interesting programmes for students during the semester (M12 “safari”, professional visits), and staff from the Cybersecurity Division also participated in various university events and lectures (open day, Girls’ Day).
