OTP KIBERLAB Scholarship for the 2023/24 Spring Semester

ANNOUNCE A SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME

The Faculty of Informatics of Eötvös Loránd University and the Pázmány-Eötvös Natural Science and Information Foundation invite scholarship applications. The “OTP KIBERLAB” scholarship programme, supported by OTP Bank Nyrt., provides an opportunity for ambitious ELTE students and researchers with outstanding professional and academic backgrounds who are interested in cybersecurity to get the most out of their studies and research. Throughout the semester-long programme, OTP KIBERLAB offers both financial and professional support to participants.

We welcome applications in the following research areas:

  1. Analysis of Honeypot system architectures suitable for banking applications
  2. Development and validation of cybersecurity methods for detecting phishing attacks
  3. Post-quantum cryptography
  4. Security aspects of Artificial Intelligence and LLM systems
  5. Examination of DRM-protected video-based defensive solutions
  6. Security analysis of open-source systems

Detailed descriptions of the topics can be found on the ELTE–OTP KIBERLAB TOPICS 2023/2024 2nd semester page. ELTE BSc and MSc students, doctoral students, and doctoral candidates are eligible to apply. Applications must reach the Foundation no later than 20 February 2024 at the following email addresses: kiberlab@inf.elte.hu and abenczur@inf.elte.hu.

Application requirements:

The applicant

  1. Describes in a short motivation letter why they are applying for the given topic and what challenges they see in it (document language: Hungarian);
  2. Applicants who have presented at a domestic or international conference or have a publication in the above topic area will be given preference;
  3. Must attach a professional CV in which the candidate also addresses the aspects mentioned in point 2 (document language: Hungarian), and a certificate of good conduct;
  4. Must provide a declaration of consent to a personal security screening (declaration language: Hungarian);
  5. Must provide their name, birth name, ID number, tax identification number, permanent address, mother’s birth name, and bank account number to which the scholarship should be transferred upon successful application.

Scholarship amounts:

  • For BSc and MSc students: maximum HUF 170,000 per month,
  • For PhD students: maximum HUF 220,000 per month.

For topics 1–6, the scholarship covers a 5-month period from 1 February 2024 to 30 June 2024, provided the recipient has an active student status. The scholarship agreement may be extended beyond this date if the applicant is progressing with the implementation of their work plan in the expected manner and the Foundation’s Board of Trustees decides accordingly, taking into account available funding options. At the end of the scholarship period, a progress report on the tasks undertaken in the application work plan must be prepared, and supporting documents presenting the results must be attached.

The issuer reserves the right to:

  • declare the application unsuccessful without giving reasons, and
  • award fewer scholarships than announced.

The Foundation reserves the right to withdraw the above scholarship with simultaneous notice to the scholarship holder if the scholarship holder neglects the research work specified in the application.

Submitted applications and the scholarship amounts to be awarded will be evaluated by the application committee designated by the Faculty of Informatics at ELTE. The committee makes its recommendation to the Foundation’s Board of Trustees regarding the scholarship to be awarded based on the content of the application and the donations of supporting parties who identify with the objectives.
